For the past 15 years, Change Inc. has participated in the Minnesota Department of Health Service's Cultural and Ethnic Minority (CEMIG) Grant. Through CEMIG we have built a collaborative community of mental health providers who are committed to providing culturally specific services to the Change Inc. Community.
Starting in January, we are excited to offer a new program called “Mosaic of Care: Strengthening Roots of Healing Across Cultures” that focuses on supporting clinicians who work cross-culturally with clients from diverse backgrounds! This program is being led by Ann Dillard, a longtime Friend of Change Inc., and dedicated Marriage and Family Therapist. With over 20 years of experience working as a mental health practitioner in educational settings, Ann is deeply committed to integrating culture as a core part of her practice. Through the Mosaic of Care Program, she will have the opportunity to teach and mentor other mental health practitioners on how they can use culture as a resource in their own therapy practices.
The Mosaic of Care Program has three core program goals:
Expand Cultural Knowledge: Help therapists identify and address gaps in their understanding of cultural influences on mental health.
Build Reflective Practice Skills: Provide therapists with the tools and frameworks to engage in meaningful cultural reflection and integration.
Enhance Therapeutic Relationships: Foster culturally sensitive care that validates clients’ identities and experiences.
Through this program, practitioners have the opportunity to join a community of culturally responsive mental health practitioners, and to gain the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to integrate culture into their own therapy practice. By fostering cultural humility, the program strengthens therapeutic relationships and improves client outcomes. Stay tuned for updates on the incredible impact this program will have!
